Meghan Akinisie

Born May 1, only 2 days late 🙂

Our biggest baby yet, 8lb!!

Four daughters…we are blessed!

Greetings from the Promised Land! Yes, we are still on great adventures. No, I do not love blogging. But here I am, ready to update you with the latest news…

The girls and I have been crashing at my parent’s house (the Homeplace) for the last 6 weeks. I’m sure glad we travelled as early as we did…I can’t fathom it being possible if my belly had been any larger 🙂 The girls were perfect travellers, and Mom met us half way to help with the overnight part of the trip.

We left a winter wonderland and were welcomed with an early summer! It was beautiful hot weather, and although we’ve had some cool days since arriving, it sure beats the snow 🙂

Today was warm, and wet. The girls asked if they could jump in the puddles and since it’s tubby day, I gave them the nod.

Baby is due on Sunday…Hubby arrives tomorrow. He was supposed to get here yesterday, but alas, the weather in the north does not always cooperate. We are SO excited to see him!!! And if this baby can hold on for 19 more hours, he won’t miss the grand arrival. No, there is no reason to think labour will happen. But at the same time, I’m offically full term and ready to meet this little girl!!

So there, I blogged.

PS…check out this website….my sister and niece are a photography duo and pretty soon they’ll be taking some pictures of my newest pink bundle!!

Merry Christmas!

I tried to get a group shot of the girlies…but it was not to be. This picture sums up my efforts.

But I hope you all had a very merry Christmas!! We have taken down all our Christmas stuff, put away the loot, and the packing has begun. We are leaving soon for a vacation to the Promised Land and we are quite excited about it! Not thrilled about the four flights it takes to get there, but the beautiful hotel, yummy room service, and a month with family and friends is definitely something to look forward to.

Ultrasound is booked…we’ll find out what we are having soon! Any guesses? I think it’s a boy…

I am the proud cousin and best friend since grade 3 of KPAM…also known as ‘Kris’ to the Becky Higgins world.

Kristal made an amazing video of her family, submitted it to a popular website, and was named one of the winners!! She’s famous, and because I know her, I feel famous as well 🙂

Check out her winning video here…

The miles separate us these days and in the past few years we’ve only seen each other a few times. But thanks to the good old telephone, I hear from her every day. At least once!

The last time I saw her was in February. Not the best circumstances to travel across Canada and spend a weekend together, but we still managed to have a great time. Here’s a tidbit of our weekend…

Getting beautified..

She got to meet my youngest turkey…who didn’t know what to think of it all!

And I got to meet her youngest turkey (although since February she has added another bun to the batch). But there are no pictures of me holding him, he’d have none of it!

Showing Duke and myself the videos she had made so far…

And you can’t visit our hometown without hitting up a few country shops! I have no idea how they got her treasures back to Alberta. Her hubby is a good sport, not many men would walk through all those airports holding a country ladder and whatever else she bought!

We are not gushy friends. We don’t hug…ever! But I will say this…

KPAM… It’s no wonder everyone so easily likes you. You are real, crazy, funny, truthful…the list goes on. Anyone that has you for a friend can consider themselves blessed. (Did you just laugh out loud? I totally heard you).

Yesterday while I was having a snooze, Dorey worked on her very first Christmas wish list! Daddy spelled it out for her while she printed, and she added her pictures. She would like two dolls, a bear, and a princess dress for her dolls.

Catching Up…Part 2

A week after we got back from vacation, I had to take Jennie to the big city for an MRI. Thankfully it came back clear!

And the day after we got back from that trip, Jennie turned 3!! We actually postponed her birthday celebrations by a day because I was too exhausted to pull a party together.

September was beautiful, time for a picnic on the beach! Only in Nunavut do you have picnics in your snowsuits 🙂

The Handsome and Moi

The girls are growing so fast!

Last week I took the big girls out on the lake by our house. This is where the town drinking water comes from, after going through a purification system. A lot of the locals just cut their own ice and let it thaw in their house, they prefer the fresh water taste over the chlorine. It is hard to work cut the ice!

A local lady made an amauti for me!! I picked some of the fabric, and she made the coat without even measuring me. Fits perfectly, and Chelsea likes riding in the back. And yes, we are ready for Christmas 🙂

And last but not least, here’s the latest and biggest news in our household…the family is growing! #4 is due in May and we are very excited!! I think it’s a boy…wouldn’t that be crazy?!

Catching Up…Part 1

We had been living in Nunavut for just over a week when we were invited to the Hamlet Day celebration feast. Loads of frozen animal parts spread out on tarps…it smelled rather interesting!! After some prayers and scripture reading, the local people sat around the tarp and helped themselves. I just took pictures…not ready for the raw food yet!

These folks went all out for Canada Day celebrations! July 1st was a fun day out on the land. Some ‘country food’ (see above picture), tea making contest, and hamburgers cooked up by the cops! Lots of people had their honda’s decorated. It was a great experience!

I never thought I’d move to Nunavut and find a kindred spirit!!

Later in July we took off to the Promised Land for a month long vacation. We spent some time with my family first…the only person missing is a brother-in-law! Dad and Duke, us four girls, our hubs and our kids makes a grand total of 28 (so far…)!!

Mama D and her girls

After a stint with my family, we spent time with the hub’s family. We can’t go home without a trip to see hub’s grandparents!

Family picture after church on Sunday…Grampy and Grampy, Us, Timotheous, Uncle Alf and the Greats!

My talented photographer sister (www.watchtheskyphotography.wordpress.com) took some time out of her busy life to capture my family on film!!

And that’s all I’ve got for part one of the great blog catch up…Watch for part 2, coming soon 🙂
